DIVISION CARETAKER – (PART TIME: 6-HOUR EVENING SHIFT)

Location: Ross Glen School & George Davison School, Medicine Hat, Alberta

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Hours per Week: 30

Employment Type: Part-Time, Unionized (CUPE)

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Caretaker to join our team and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment in our Ross Glen and George Davison schools. This position is 6 hours per day, with 3 hours at each location. As a caretaker, you will play a vital role in supporting the schools' educational missions by ensuring our facilities are clean, secure, and well-maintained. A travel allowance between the two schools will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas
• Maintain cleaning equipment and restock supplies
• Ensure building security and assist with facility safety
• Report maintenance issues and safety concerns
• Support event setup and takedown, and assist with furniture moves
• Collaborate with staff and project a positive image of the school

What We're Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 6 months of caretaking experience preferred
• Valid WHMIS certification (or ability to obtain)
• Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, tools, and safety regulations
• Ability to operate custodial equipment (e.g., auto scrubbers, vacuums, floor burnishers)
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook)
• Strong organizational, communication, and people skills
• A demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
• The successful applicant will be required to provide a police information check with vulnerable sector as well as complete job specific pre-employment testing as a condition of the job offer.
