Job Overview
Starks Plumbing & Heating Ltd. is seeking a reliable and experienced Hydrovac Operator / Truck Driver to join our Civil Division. This is a versatile position for someone who is comfortable operating a hydrovac, driving gravel trucks, and assisting the crew with general daily construction tasks. The successful candidate must be willing to work as part of a team and help wherever needed to keep projects moving forward safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain a hydrovac truck
• Perform daylighting, trenching, utility exposure and excavation work
• Drive tandem or gravel trucks as required
• Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of trucks and equipment
• Assist with shovelling, site cleanup and general labour duties
• Support underground utility and civil construction crew
• Complete required daily paperwork and equipment inspections
• Follow company safety policies and site-specific procedures
• Maintain a clean and professional work area
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and customers

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
• Previous hydrovac operating experience is a must
• Experience driving gravel or dump trucks is considered an asset
• Ability to safely operate around underground utilities
• Physically capable of performing labour-intensive work, including lifting, shovelling
• Strong mechanical aptitude is considered an asset
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
• Dependable, punctual and safety-minded

Applicants must understand that this is not strictly an equipment-operating position. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with cleaning, shovelling, equipment maintenance and other daily tasks when the hydrovac or gravel truck is not operating.

Pay: $24.00-$29.00 per hour
