Lethbridge Addiction and Mental Health Adult Community Services is looking for an experienced, skilled, enthusiastic and dynamic team member to fill the position of a permanent part-time addiction counsellor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a continuum of treatment services, including screening, assessment, treatment planning, harm reduction, case management and therapeutic interventions in individual and group settings. This person will maintain accurate and appropriate documentation on client files in a timely fashion and able to complete referrals to various treatment programs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, allied professionals and community agencies to provide seamless service to clients and their significant collaterals in various stages of recovery. This person will have an understanding of prevention, health promotion and community development practices, along with the ability to provide consultation and direct services to enable communities to effectively deal with addiction issues. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:Completion of a bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.
Additional Required Qualifications:5 years’ experience working in Addiction counselling field with adults. Qualified applications must have and maintain registration as outlined in Alberta Health Professions Act. Understanding of mental health and concurrent disorders. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work in team environment. Knowledge of community resources.
