Position Title: Administrative Assistant – Childcare Centre – Canada Summer Job Position
Location: Crescent Heights Childcare Development Centre
Reports To: Sandra Warkentin
Pay Grid: $16.00 PER HOUR
Department: Childcare Centre
Hours: Temporary Full Time (35 hours/week for 8 weeks)

Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration
- Standard First Aid, CPR-Level C
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search if applicable),
within the last six months
- Must have a valid driver’s license or a reliable method of transportation
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient computer skills, MS Office Suite experience an asset
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to act professional in all situations representing the YMCA according to its core values
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Clear understanding of policies regarding confidentiality and FOIP
What does this role look like at the YMCA of Medicine Hat?
Reporting to Sandra Warkentin the GM of Childcare and Community. This position is responsible for
administrative duties for the Before and After School Program.
The responsibilities and duties of this role will include but is not limited to:
- Administrative tasks, specifically data entry, filing and office management. They will also be
responsible for the creation of documents such as handbooks and brochures.
Canada Summer Jobs Criteria:
- Must be between the ages of 15-30 at the beginning of the employment period (i.e., first day of work)
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been officially conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (for the duration of employment).
- CANNOT be an international student.
- Cannot be immediate family members of anyone on the board, senior leadership, or management teams (i.e., parent/stepparent, sibling, spouse/partner, child, stepchild).

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work will occur at the Crescent Heights Child Development centre, parking will be provided at
no cost.
- Office is located on the main floor and is in an accessible location
- Applicant will be stationed at a desk for most of the day
- Some lifting will be required (I.e. file boxes), there may be some overhead lifting as well
- Applicant will not be required to complete any work outside.
