Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring the integrity of our accounting data. Other administrative tasks such as donor entry and payroll maintenance are also included. The position is part-time and includes benefits after the 90-day probation period. Wage is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Must have a clear desire to serve low-income people, be friendly, flexible, enthusiastic, and passionate about the Christian ministry of Streets Alive Mission.
· Ability to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Must be able to communicate clearly and courteously, verbally and in writing with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Be detail oriented and able to work with little supervision.
· Be able to recognize patterns in data entry.
· Must be competent in computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online. Experience in Wagepoint Payroll Software and Donor Perfect Database management are assets as well.
· At least 5 years experience in bookkeeping.
· Experience with non-profit bookkeeping and a knowledge of CRA guidelines a definite asset.
Duties and Responsibilities & Expectations:
· Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using QuickBooks Online and Excel.
· Manage and complete Bank Deposits (physical and electronic).
· To manage the preparation, recording, verification, and collection of all accounts payable and receivable.
· To manage the process of completing the monthly bank reconciliations, the input of the appropriate entries to the general ledger and the preparation of the monthly reports associated with month end.
· To manage the company credit card and house accounts, including follow-up with employees to ensure receipts are turned in.
· To conduct account analysis to detect discrepancies or irregularities.
· To manage the completion of all relative returns and reports of the Association including WCB, quarterly GST returns, and assisting with T4s in a timely manner.
· To assist in the annual external audit.
· To assist with the management and maintenance of the payroll database program; verify payroll inputs, act as back up.
· To enter and verify the donations in the donor database, ensuring their accuracy and that tax receipts are sent out in a timely fashion.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00-$26.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 24 per week
