Under the direction of the Building Services Manager is responsible for carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance of the facility and its grounds, including inspections and production of reports and records. Physical fitness to perform full range of duties of the post, including movement of heavy objects. Knowledge, skill and ability to carry out minor repairs to facility and equipment. Good basic trades knowledge of electrical, mechanical, carpentry and plumbing systems and practices.

General knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing procedures

General knowledge of heating and ventilation systems as well as appliance maintenance3-5+ years prior experience in retirement, residential care or hospitality setting

1. Executes routine repairs and carries out minor maintenance operations to electrical, mechanical, plumbing equipment and building

2. Paints, performs minor carpentry and maintains exterior grounds except those services performed under service contract

3. At regular intervals, inspects the entire premises from a maintenance and safety stand point and submits required reports to the Building Services Manager

4. Fulfill all maintenance duties as required

5. Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement in own work

6. Executes other duties assigned by Building Services Manager

7. Assists residents and visitors as appropriate

8. Assist colleagues with tasks as appropriate

9. Actively participates in departmental quality improvement program and in facility programs

10. Participates in education and development programs

11. Complies with health and safety legislation, procedures and guidance

12. Practices safe working at all times

13. Takes preventative action to eliminate/reduce risks

14. Actively participates in health and safety management within team, department and facility generally

15. Participates in workplace assessments, inspections and audits

16. Promptly reports all accidents, incidents, and near miss situations

17. Complies with documentation requirements
