Description
The Community Development Consultant works as part of the Homeless & Housing Development Department team in a project focused capacity.
Responsible for leading the mapping of mental health services for vulnerable populations in Medicine Hat, the project will focus on services for adults but will coordinate with Integrated Youth Services, who will partner to map services for youth through a coordinated effort.
The regular workday is 8:00AM – 4:30PM with an unpaid hour lunch break and may require occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate community driven initiatives. On-site training in human-centered design and systems planning approaches will be provided.
Area of Responsibility
· Development of both a network map (laying out the structure of connections in the system) and a process map (to explore individual stakeholder journeys to identify leverage points), through a human-centered systems thinking lens.
Human-centered systems thinking combines systems thinking (connections and interactions between people in a system) with human-centered design (empathizing with all people engaged in the system including stakeholders and the end user), often referred to as zooming in and zooming out.
· Engage in 1-1 interviews with stakeholders and participants with lived-living experience
· Lead a variety of collaborative engagements, including small and large group facilitated discussions.
· Through mapping processes and analysis inform prototype/solution planning.
· Provide a report back to community on mapping results, key findings and next steps.
Experience and Education
· Experience working with vulnerable populations (employment or volunteer capacity) preferred.
· Education in psychology, social work or related human services field.

· Provide current, clear Criminal Record Check.
In good standing with professional body if applicable (e.g. ACSW)
