This posting is for a full-time Cook. This position requires that interested applicants be available to work weekends and holidays. Applicants must have previous commercial experience. The selected applicant should work well with others and enjoy making fresh food daily.
Job Summary
The Cook, under the direction of the Food Services Manager, will prepare all food products, specifically, but not limited to: the Chinook Village Dining Room, Serveries, catering events and any other as required and requested by the Food Services Manager. This will include various pre-set menu specifications within the given time limitations as previously determined by the Food Services Manager. These are completed according to the standards of Chinook Village, as determined by the Food Services Manager, and in compliance with all health and safety regulations by ensuring adherence to all sanitary and safe food handling guidelines at all times.
Formal Education/Experience
- High School Diploma Preferred
- Professional diploma or food services management experience an asset
- Food Safe certificate Preferred
- Minimum 5 years of cooking experience Preferred
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
- Experience in large quantity food preparation in and/or seniors setting/health care setting.
- Knowledge of Alberta and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
- Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets.
- Operation of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Strong communication, teamwork and concern resolution skills.
- Effective organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively work independently and within a team.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Successful candidate will be required to submit a current, clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check no older than 3 months.
