JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
Dewatering Technicians are responsible for providing dewatering and solids control services. Additional responsibilities include site assessments, inspections, installations, and repair services.
The ideal candidate:
- Will have two (2) years’ experience in Solids/Water separation
- Environmental Technologist degree (or diploma) would be considered an asset
- Experience with fluid handling equipment considered an asset
- Experience with industrial sites considered an asset
- Familiarity with health and safety requirements considered an asset
- Supervisory experience would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of operating/maintaining mechanical equipment considered an asset
Key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Dewatering, floccing and fluid-handling support as requested
- Maintaining and operating both sludge and water pumps as well as operating metering systems
- Running both Dry and Emulsion polymer systems
- Laying out hose, pipes, liners, and Geotube® units
- Performing the setup of equipment, tools, and materials for various applications
- Communicating the project status and work conditions to the Service Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
- Operate dredging equipment
- Preform installations of specialized water/wastewater systems as required
Necessary Skills & Knowledge:
- Have a thorough understanding of company safety manual and OHSA manual
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate company vehicles
- Ability to communicate effectively – both verbally and in writing
- Ability to perform site inspections for the purposes of estimating, managing, and QA/QC
- Skill in the use of computers – MS Office, Google Workspace
- Able and willing to work under pressure and meet deadlines Have thorough knowledge of pipe types and fittings
- Be able to write clearly and legibly
- Able to travel and work away from home for extended periods
- Self starter and passion for the environmental industry
Education and Experience:
The following education or experience will be considered an asset:
- Occupational First Aid - Level 1 or equivalent
- Knowledge of polymers and their application, sludge dewatering
- Knowledge of Water/Wastewater Treatment systems and associated chemicals
- College diploma/ University Degree in Water and Environmental field
Physical Demands:
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts as required
- Ability to work evening and weekends as required to meet deadlines
- Work in extreme temperatures
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to perform physical labor activities as required

Compensation:
- Salary commensurate with experience
