A committed classroom enhancement staff to complement our qualified workforce of educators.
The role of the Aide is to assist the Primary teachers in creating a safe, nurturing classroom environment. The educator in this position allows for additional supervision and classroom support, to enhance the overall well-being of the children and learning environment as a whole. The educator in this position will also work individually, as needed, with children with exceptional qualities, ensuring their developmental needs are being met and supported
The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to reach out to students and create relationships of mutual trust.
Responsibilities
- Successful at engaging students’ interests to ensure they participate in meaningful learning
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs and individual learning goals determined by the classroom teacher
- Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning
- Instruct children in the basic skills of language, numeracy, pre-literacy, social sciences, art and music, in addition to listening, attention, social skills and acceptable behavior, resulting in the developmental growth for each child
- Utilize games, music, books, art, technology and other resources to teach basic skills and foster student development
- Collaborate with other professionals in the classroom, parents and stakeholders, and participate in regular meetings
- Observe and understand students’ behavior with the intent of creating an intervention plan to further the child’s developmental success
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences etc.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom

- Apply and follow up on the classroom management interventions
- Instruct children on personal hygiene practices and self care
- Encourage cooperative social behavior through games and activities
- Collaborate with other staff members to promote the general health of the school

Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
- Certificate or Diploma in Education Assistance, Early Childhood Education or a degree in a specialized subject related to the field

Contract length: 10 months
Salary: $15.00-$20.00 per hour
