Fertilizer Terminal Operator

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Fertilizer Terminal Operator on a permanent basis on our Ag Solutions team. This position requires on-site work and is based in Grassy Lake, AB. Not currently living in this area? FCL offers a commuting allowance to support your travel costs.

What you’ll do:

• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Fertilizer Terminal.
• Monitor and operate terminal equipment to load/unload product.
• Perform general housekeeping operations in buildings and terminal grounds.
• Monitor and manage quality controls (ex. oiling dusty product), screen outbound and inbound, run conditioners, and clean/maintain equipment and work floors.
• Participate in safety meetings, plant inspections, and task observations.
• Maintain clean shipping and receiving area to prevent contamination of fertilizer products and ensure full compliance with safety procedures and personal protective equipment.
• Other duties as required.

Who you’ll work with:
The Team: You will work closely with a small team of 3 other people including the Lead Fertilizer Terminal Operator and the Fertilizer Terminal Coordinator and will report into the Fertilizer Terminal Supervisor. This team strives to cultivate a culture that is trusting, supportive, and easy to get along with.
The Customers: You will demonstrate customer focus while supporting South Country Co-op, local farms, and dealing directly with carriers and truckers who distribute our products.

Our Agro team helps to feed and grow Western Canadian communities by sourcing and distributing products and services to local Co-ops in the feed, crop supplies and fertilizer business.
Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Production, Trades and Maintenance and:

• Have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Have 3 – 5 years of relevant experience. Experience working with mobile equipment and/or in agriculture operations is an asset (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.)
• Have a valid driver’s licence, are comfortable climbing heights, and able to work around dust.
• Have excellent communication and people skills, a mechanical aptitude of terminal maintenance and repair, and knowledge of fertilizer agricultural products.
• Mobile equipment certifications and first aid training is an asset.
