Food Services Manager
Chinook Village, Medicine Hat’s premier retirement residents, is currently seeking to fill the Food Services Manager position due to an upcoming retirement. Our claim to fame is our home style, homemade food that considers our residents dietary needs, likes and preferences. We also cook for special events, conferences, and banquets.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Food Services Manager is responsible for overall operations of the Food Services Department, which includes daily cooking for residents as well as banquet room bookings. The Food Services Manager effectively leads and coordinates the food services department, develops, and adheres to approved menus, approved policies and procedures while managing a high standard of quality and customer service.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED
· Food services management, hotel and restaurant management, hospitality business administration or related major or diplomas an asset.
· Red Seal Chef designation an asset.
· 5 years management/supervisory experience preferably in a food and beverage, culinary or related professional area.
· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Outstanding leadership and management skills.
· Excellent communications skills (English) – both oral and written is required. Must be functionally computer literate.
· Must be in good health, physically fit, able to walk, stand for long periods of time and lift.
· Must have a flexible, willing, and positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensures a strong person-centered service focused environment. Mediate conflict and resolve complaints related to food quality, services rendered or wait times.
· Oversee the preparation, presentation, and delivery of food to guarantee that residents and guest receive meals that are proportionate, consistent, cooked properly and aesthetically stunning.
· Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operation of the department within specific policies, procedures, standards and legislation with respect to menu planning, resident dietary restrictions, food handling, sanitation, equipment appliances, records retention, etc.
· Provides leadership in performing regular food service duties including cooking, baking, cleaning, serving, dishwashing, complaint resolution, etc.
· Develops for review and approval short- and long-term goals for the department; assists with the departments annual operating and capital budgets.
· Responsible for ordering the department’s food, supplies, small wares, and small equipment; maintains a secure inventory control system.
· Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing review of Food Services meals, procedures, standards and quality assurance.
· Responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, performance management and professional development of department staff. Develops employee work rotations and schedules.
· Attends various committees and training sessions as requested by Chinook Village
· Promotes and actively participates in Chinook Village’s Health and Safety Program.
The successful candidate will be requirement to obtain a Criminal Records Check.
