The Redcliff Riverview Golf Club is offering a great opportunity in the position of Grounds Superintendent. We are a popular semi-public facility situated in the Town of Redcliff and adjacent to the City of Medicine Hat. Our course offers 18-holes of fantastic golf with breathtaking views of the South Saskatchewan River Valley.
As the leader of our team, you would possess a quality work ethic and great communication skills. You must be a problem solver and have the ability to make decisions that provide positive results. Possession of a Turfgrass Management diploma or degree would be an asset, however, if you have relevant education and/or experience while possessing the qualities we are looking for, we would be more than happy to talk to you.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Golf Course Superintendent will be employed year-round and will lead a team of approximately 10-12 seasonal staff. The Superintendent is responsible to co-ordinate all maintenance and construction activities related to operation of the Riverview Golf Course. This will include maintenance to turfgrass, irrigation systems, turfgrass equipment, fleet carts, and course buildings and facilities. The Golf Course Superintendent will report directly to the Board of Directors.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Will be responsible to co-ordinate all maintenance and repair of the Riverview Golf Course including but not limited to turfgrass maintenance, irrigation operation and repair, and all related facility and building maintenance or construction. 2. Will co-ordinate and manage the maintenance of the Club’s vehicle and equipment fleet. 3. Ensures that all golf course maintenance activities are conducted consistent to Club policies and procedures, and within the approved budget established by the Board of Directors. 4. Will be responsible for all department staffing issues as it relates to hiring, supervision, training, and discipline. 5. Will assist the Board of Directors in preparing annual maintenance and equipment budgets as required. 6. Will promote and encourage a positive work environment amongst all golf club staff, members, and patrons. 7. Ensure that all golf course maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with all municipal, provincial, and federal statutes, including but not limited to health and safety regulations and pesticide/herbicide management regulations. 8. Will maintain appropriate pesticide applicators license(s) required to perform duties of this position. 9. Will co-ordinate and authorize department purchases, payments, inventories, and staff payroll with Administration/Accounting personnel. 10. Will consult and collaborate with the Club’s General Manager regarding scheduling and maintenance issues that affect the playability of the course and/or the integrity of the golf club facilities. 11. Will attend Board or Club meetings as requested by the Board of Directors in a consulting capacity to provide reports and professional advice or opinions as it relates to the golf course operations.
