Onsite Safety Management Inc. has an immediate opening for Health and Safety Coordinator. Our dedicated and professional team provides Health & Safety Management for residential and commercial industries in Southern Alberta.

Overview:

Under the supervision of the Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the daily support and administration of new client on-boarding, including safety orientations, record keeping of workers on-boarding information, generation of safety statistical, leading the subcontractor management program and other duties described under Key Responsibilities or as directed.

Key Skills:

  • Communication skills both written and oral as role has considerable writing, editing and creative marketing consideration (i.e. developing safety talks or safety alerts)
  • Self-starter, takes initiative to continuously review the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) for compliance and potential outdated information
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks accordingly
  • Positive attitude and results driven
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with customers, stakeholders and co-workers
  • Excellent organizational skills that demonstrates the ability to resolve conflicting priorities
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent computer skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Office software i.e.; Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Desire to take ownership of tasks assigned and willingness to learn

Key Experiences:

  • 2-4 years' work experience in a safety related position
  • Completion of formalized training in Excel and Word computer systems are considered an asset
  • Certification as a National Construction Safety Office (NCSO), or a post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety would be an asset
  • Experience with subcontractor management programs and pre-qualification processes considered an asset
  • Experience in building and/or delivering training programs
  • Experience in setting up large venues (i.e. annual safety meetings) considered an asset
  • Experience in the COR & SECOR™ audit process considered an asset
  • Experience with on line registry management (i.e. ISN, Complyworks, Cognibox, Avetta) is an asset.

Description:

  • The Health & Safety Coordinator will play an integral role assisting with day to day administration and management of ONSITE SAFETY MANAGEMENT INC. COR™ certified Health & Safety Management System.

Day to day activities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Traveling to sites to perform inspections and meetings
  • Development & review of the health & safety program, legislation and applicable safe work practices, safe job procedures and formal hazard assessments

Health and Safety Administration which includes:

  • Review and document control of submitted inspections, incidents and meetings
  • Review and monitor submissions for compliance with the Onsite Safety Management Inc. clients HSMS
  • Track and report on statistics (monthly as a minimum)
  • Provide incident notifications to local and senior management and the human resources department
  • Assist in the Early & Safety Return to Work Program as required
  • Update and review Onsite Safety Management Inc.’s risk registry
  • Track and review incidents, including third party orders / visits (PIR, OHS) to ensure proper close-out of orders, action items or other requirements
  • Work with Onsite Safety Management Inc. clients to setup / schedule training as required
  • Update client employee profiles as new training is received / provided
  • Manage the Onsite Safety Management Inc. Subcontractor Management program, includes working with site teams (virtually) across the company and communications to external parties
  • Manage the purchasing, price review and asset management related to personal protective equipment (PPE) and items that require maintenance (i.e., annual inspection requirements)
  • Prepare Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Meetings packages and minutes for local clients
  • Participate in and lead JHSC’s, including the inspection process as required
  • Prepare site specific safety packages for new projects
  • Complete Onsite Safety Management Inc.’s client’s AASP & ACSA COR & SECOR™ audits as directed

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to project locations and client meetings as required
