Your Opportunity:
St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge is currently seeking individuals with a desire to work in healthcare to join our team as non-certified Health Care Aides (HCA). This employment opportunity creates a bridge to the Norquest HCA workplace program. This program will provide successful candidates a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience and education in the healthcare industry, which would equip you, as a candidate with the necessary knowledge, and skills to achieve certification as an HCA. To qualify for this role, you must meet the academic requirements set by Norquest College and successfully complete a paid six-week pre-orientation program at the site. You will then be required to enroll in the Alberta HCA directory and Norquest college HCA workplace program and expected to complete the HCA program within one year. Throughout this training, you will work as part of the team under the guidance of a site tutor and along with experienced HCAs to gain practical hands-on experience and complete your coursework. Additionally, you must pass the Norquest college exam to achieve full HCA certification and continue employment. As a successful candidate, you will be paid at the basic rate of pay as an uncertified HCA during training, and your tuition for the program will be fully paid by the employer. You will be responsible for the Norquest HCA examination fees at the end of your program. You must also be flexible during the training period to rotate throughout different units and schedules. Upon successful completion of the program, we may require a minimum one-year return service commitment as a certified HCA at our facility. The Health Care Aide is accountable for providing care and support under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse. The Health Care Aide provides service which is responsive to the holistic needs of residents and promotes choice while maintaining dignity and facilitating independence. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE St. Therese Villa Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
