Hydrovac Operator
DGC Contracting Inc. is a Spruce Grove, AB based utility construction company specializing in directional drilling, hydrovac and civil utility construction. We are looking for Hydrovac Operators for the upcoming construction season.
The Hydrovac Operator will work to safely and efficiently install underground utilities on both public and private property using Hydrovacs and other machinery as required. Operators must be able to work with labourers, directional drillers and supervisors to install utilities according to client specifications.
Candidates should be able to provide own transportation to and from DGC Contracting’s shop and/or jobsite locations and be able to work 8-12 hours a day, 6 days a week. Candidate must be able to work out of town for extended periods.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safe operation of excavating equipment and other tools required for installation and backfill of shallow utilities.
- Using both hand tools and power tools such as tampers, saws, shovels, rakes, tampers, etc., to assist in directional drilling installations.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, complete FLHA’s
- Assist in identifying and correcting worksite hazards.
- Read locates for water, gas, and other underground services.
- Work to ensure safe equipment operating guidelines are met.
- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment as required by client, legislation or company policy.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license minimum Class 3, (preference for class 1) clean abstract, and own vehicle.
- Physically fit and able to bend, kneel, climb, and lift (up to 50 lbs).
- At least 1 year experience operating hydrovacs in urban areas around existing utilities
- Experience working with shallow utility installations is preferred.
- Firm understanding of underground locates.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

Salary: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
