PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Pipefitter / Steamfitter Apprentice & Journeyman will be responsible for providing full cycle, in depth knowledge and support for the profession of Pipefitter / Steamfitter to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. achieves their general and specific project requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use and lay out the sequence of tasks
- Make detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, solder, assemble and install metal, plastic and fiberglass pipes, valves and fittings
- Join pipe sections and related equipment and secure in position
- Use testing equipment to check systems for leaks
- Remove and replace worn components and do general maintenance work
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
· Certified Journeyman Trade Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program
· Physical strength and stamina
· Manual dexterity
· Mechanical aptitude
· The ability to read and understand complex instructions and drawings
· The ability to do careful and precise work
· May be required to lift items weighing over 25 kilograms
· Must be willing to work in remote job locations
· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
· Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site
