Overview

Arcane Fibre Works is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Assistant to join our studio team. This position supports our hand-dyeing operations, helping produce high-quality, consistent colorways that meet AFW’s artistic and technical standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and enjoys hands-on creative work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and dyeing yarns according to established recipes and colorway processes
• Measure and mix dyes accurately following safety and quality guidelines
• Rinse, wash, and finish dyed yarns to ensure colorfastness and consistency
• Label, twist, and package finished yarns for inventory and shipping
• Maintain a clean and organized dye workspace, including equipment and tools
• Track dye lots, batch details, and assist with production logs
• Support inventory management by restocking materials and reporting supply needs
• Assist with quality control, ensuring each skein meets brand standards

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
• Comfortable working in a studio environment with heat, water, and dyes
• Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
• No prior dyeing experience required, training will be provided
• Experience in textile arts or color work is an asset

Schedule

Flexible within standard weekday hours. Some weeks may be part-time (20 hours), and others may reach full-time (up to 40 hours) depending on production needs. Studio Hours are Mon-Fri 7:00am - 3:00pm

Compensation

$17 per hour, paid weekly.
