Permanent, Full-time, On-site

The Medicine Hat Police Service is committed to supporting and empowering victims and witnesses of crime by helping them navigate the aftermath of a crime and providing them the resources and assistance they require. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Program Manager to lead our Victim Assistance Unit and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve. This position is responsible for the strategic direction, administration and evaluation of victim service activities. This role requires a deep understanding of victim advocacy, program management, and strong leadership skills to manage employees and volunteers. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic leader with excellent organizational and communication skills.

Our ideal candidate

As an Program Manager of the Victim Assistance Unit, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting goals and objectives for the victim services program and assessing the effectiveness of program delivery with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Developing and coordinating volunteer training and on the job coaching.
  • Providing inspirational leadership to employees and a large number of volunteers, with the understanding of volunteer model service delivery.
  • Analyzing data and information to compile reports, correspondence and statistical data for various stakeholders.
  • Stewardship of the budget including reporting and application for Government Grant Funding.
  • Providing expertise, best practices and feedback on matter relating to the victim services program.
  • Ensuring compliance with Victim of Crime, Public Safety Act, Victim Bill of Rights, FOIP and other related laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in Social Work or equivalent in a related discipline such as Criminology, Social Sciences, Management, or similar from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Five (5) years related experience, including two (2) years administering a social service or volunteer program.
  • Current registration with the related professional regulatory body where applicable.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass a full Police Service security clearance as outlined in the Medicine Hat Police Service Policy and Procedures, including a polygraph examination.
