TITLE: Recovery Coach
FTE: 1.0 Full Time Permanent and 0.6 Part Time Permanent
PROGRAM: Lethbridge Wellness Shelter & Stabilization Unit (LWS-SU)
REPORTS TO: Stabilization Unit Coordinator and Clinician
SUMMARY OF WORK:
As a Recovery Coach, you will offer support, guidance and encouragement to those who are seeking out the recovery pathway from addictions and substance use. The Recovery Coach will contribute to the delivery of client centered community-based services to individuals with chronic addiction and/or substance use. By practicing recovery orientated support techniques, upholding client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. Carrying out assigned tasks and duties in a client focused recovery plan will include support to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will work collaboratively with other health, service providers, and partnerships. In this position, you will work under the direction of a regulated health provider.
PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have education in Addictions and Mental Health, or other related Health Sciences. Preference for a Recovery Coach Certificate or equal education.
• Must have 2 to 3 years experience in a high risk environment: health care, low income, homeless shelters, etc.(required).
• Must have personal experience in recovery from addiction challenge(s), and ability to draw upon wellness and recovery in providing intentional peer support (asset).
• A minimum 1 year experience in a recovery coach role or equivalent.
• Preference for valid First Aid Certification (training may be provided).
• Must have Naloxone/Narcan training or willing to obtain.
• Must have NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Certification or be willing to obtain.
• Must be able to sit, walk, trasfer, lift (80 lbs), carry epuipment and supplies, if required.
• Must be energetic and self-directed, with effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to deal with several priorities at the same time.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed and accurate record. Effective communication with interdisciplinary team essential.
• Must have the ability to maintain composure, remain calm, resillient, tolerant and focused when dealing with a high volume of volatile and stressful situations.
• Must have the ability to make sound rational decisions based on information provided and employ critical thinking where information may not be clear.
• Must have strong strategically-focused analytical skills, good common sense; and capacity to provide leadership.
• Must have well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
• Must have high morals, ethics and integrity.
• Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to improve projects, programs and processes
SALARY RANGE:
• As per Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc., Salary Grid.
