Remediation Technician
When disasters happen, Remediation Technicians at On Side are truly on ‘your side’. Asbestos and mould can pop-up anywhere and requires special knowledge and experience to deal with. Remediation Technicians can perform remediation services while protecting the health and safety of workers and clients.
Remediation Technicians are responsible for:
· Ensuring a safe work area from asbestos and mould by knowing how to remove and remediate potential dangers from the work site
· Identifying and disposing of asbestos and mould contaminated materials
What you bring:
· Perform work following procedure and legislation
· Ensure cleanliness of site, vehicle, and tools
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow scope of work
· Organized with a good sense of time— you’re rarely late and know where all your tools are
· Physically fit— remediation can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places
· Friendly and enjoys working in a team!
· A safety-first mindset
· Valid driver’s licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)
· Ability to communicate in English
Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn’t required:
· Asbestos remediation ticket
· A background in demolition
· Construction experience
Of Note
Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call

- Weekends as needed
Application question(s):
- Have you ever worked with hazardous materials besides asbestos? Please describe.
- Do you have the knowledge and experience to deal with asbestos contaminated materials OR will you need to learn? Experienced or learning?
- Do you have basic carpentry/building knowledge? This position requires a person to be comfortable with tools in order to build containment walls/ showers/ small structures. Please describe your experience or how you are willing to learn.
- Are you able to wear full PPE and work within containment as required for the duration of your shift?
- Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours.
- Do you have a valid (or expired) Asbestos Remediation ticket or other remediation tickets? Please list here.
- Will you be clean shaven (if applicable) every shift so that respirators will fit properly?
- Are you physically fit and ok in confined spaces?
- Cross training is required for this role. Successful candidates will be trained in Emergency, Demolition, Rebuild and Water Damage. Are you able and willing to train and work in other roles?
Experience:
- identifying and disposing of asbestos: 1 year (preferred)
- identifying and disposing mould: 1 year (preferred)
- demolition: 1 year (preferred)
- Remediation: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Canadian Driver's License (required)
