Full job description

We’re looking for an enthusiastic seasonal, full-time Summer Heritage Interpreter to join the lively and dynamic Interpretive Program team based in Police Point Park in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Our Park Interpreters work with school groups, community groups, tourists, and local visitors. There are established interpretive programs to adapt and exciting opportunities to lead new events, create vibrant displays, grow our social media presence, and explore the unique ecosystems of southeastern Alberta.

This position will be filled pending funding approval. Funding for this position requires applicants to be youth between the ages of 15 and 30. Funding may also require applicants to be full-time students in the semester preceding and immediately following the summer work term.

Beautiful Police Point Park is located along the South Saskatchewan River and is named in reference to the North West Mounted Police post that was once located on the escarpment above the present-day park. Even earlier in history, this point was important as a named location on the verbal maps of Indigenous Peoples in the region. It was a river crossing, a meeting place, and the site of tree burials.

Today, the Nature Centre is a place where visitors and locals come to explore and appreciate prairie life and the cultures that have shaped this area. The Interpretive Program celebrates the human and natural heritage of the prairie region.

More information about the Interpretive Program can be found at www.natureline.info

Creative youth with related studies and personal interests in prairie heritage and ecosystems are invited to apply. Post-secondary education in natural sciences or natural history and/or experience leading groups would be considered an asset.

Please send a cover letter* and resume to Alicia Voth, Chief Interpreter (alicia@natureline.info) by March 30, 2026.

*Please note: applications without a cover letter will not be considered.

The Interpretive Program is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
