POSITION: BUILDER/FABRICATOR
DESCRIPTION: Dayshift
A Builder performs one or more repetitive jobs on the assembly and pressing line to produce trusses.
REPORTS TO: Lead Hand
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is responsible for participating in Quality Control and Health & Safety Programs
- Is responsible for working safely and keeping his work area clean;
- Is responsible for reporting any unsafe condition or situation;
- Is responsible for building trusses that meet the expected quality;
- Is responsible for following the Health and Safety and Quality policies, processes, procedures and instructions;
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Interprets shop drawings for overall truss dimensions as well as joint & plate placement.
- Participates in setting or jigging trusses;
- Moves material to assembly-production area;
- Inserts and clamps chords and webs to tables;
- Assures that all joints are tight;
- Positions and secures the proper connector plates on the top and bottom of all joints as shown on the shop drawing;
- Assures the connector plates (top & bottom) are of the size and type as specified and that each plate is positioned as specified on the shop drawing;
- Participates in the operation of the press when pressing connector plates;
- Participates in removing the truss from the jig and transferring it to the exit conveyor;
- Participates in marking each truss as per the shop drawings;
- Is responsible for observing company safety rules;
- Participates in keeping the work area clean and safe;
- Participates in scheduled area inspections using inspection checklist forms;
- Is responsible for reporting all unsafe and hazardous situations or conditions to the lead Assembler;
