Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team. As a Youth Worker, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and help them develop essential skills. This is a rewarding position for individuals who enjoy working with children and have a passion for education.

Duties:
- Engage with children in various activities, fostering healthy relationships
- Assist in planning and leading summer camp geared to low income and at risk youth
- Provide mentorship to youth and children
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all
- Collaborate with other staff to create a well-rounded program
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and achievements

-Help create inviting spaces for children and youth

Requirements:
- Experience working with children in an educational or youth development setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage groups of youth
- Patience, empathy, and understanding towards youth and children from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of child development principles and educational strategies
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules

- Ability to work independently

- Driver's license with a driver's abstract

- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

This a Canada Summer Jobs Grant position

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekends as needed

Licence/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (preferred)

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: 2024-06-24
