Join the City of Medicine Hat as a Guest Services Attendant!
Temporary | Part Time | On Site
Starting at $18.72 hourly
Help create memorable experiences at some of Medicine Hat's most exciting events.
As a Guest Services Attendant, you'll often be one of the first points of contact for visitors, providing a warm welcome, answering questions and offering helpful support throughout their visit. This casual, event-based role offers flexible shifts that may occur during the day, evenings, and weekends. Team members can expect to work at both Co-op Place and the Esplanade, supporting events and guest experiences across both venues.
What you'll do
- Welcome visitors, provide information and create a positive experience at Community Development facilities.
- Process admissions and sell tickets, memberships, registrations, parking and transit passes, and merchandise.
- Perform reception duties and assist with general visitor inquiries.
- Open galleries and exhibitions, including operating audio-visual equipment and displays.
- Monitor public areas, galleries and exhibitions to support visitor safety, security and compliance with facility protocols.
- Help maintain clean, tidy and welcoming public spaces.
- Report operational, safety or visitor-service concerns and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Follow all health and safety requirements.
What you bring
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills, with the ability to welcome guests and interact effectively with the public and team members.
- A friendly, professional and solutions-focused approach to responding to guest questions, concerns and requests.
- The ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a seamless, positive experience for guests.
- Experience operating cash registers, point-of-sale and web-based sales systems, computers and applicable software.
- The ability to monitor and operate security systems and other equipment used at the Guest Services desk.
- Basic math and accounting skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other current office software, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems and applications.
- A willingness to support a clean, welcoming and comfortable facility environment.
- Reliability and dependability, along with the flexibility to work a schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or High School equivalency diploma.
- One (1) to three (3) months experience providing customer service including handling of cash and credit transactions.
