Finance Technician
Description:
Peak Vocational and Support Services has an opening for a Full Time Finance Technician.
37.5 hours per week, primarily daytime office hours, with some flexibility required for occasional evening or weekend commitments.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a balance between education, experience, and personal attributes:
- a diploma or degree in a relevant discipline: Business Administration, Bookkeeping or Accounting
- candidates eligible and interested or have acquired their Canadian Payroll Certification
- Experience working in finance, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bookkeeping, is a distinct advantage.
- Experience and a high degree of computer literacy
- Prior experience in disability services is beneficial but not required.
Critical aspects of the role include (but are not limited to):
- Entering & reconciling bank accounts, accounts receivable/payable, etc.
- All aspects of bookkeeping using Quickbooks online is a must: verifying transactions, bringing books to the trial balance stage, performing partial checks of the posting process, periodic reconciliation of accounts to ensure accuracy, etc.
- All aspects of payroll: review of time & attendance, employee deductions, generating payroll, ensuring hypotheses are accurate, preparations and reconciliation of T-4s, ROE, and data input for computerized payroll system.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Maintaining and filing fiscal records
- Other clerical and administrative support as requested; miscellaneous duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:
- LETHBRIDGE, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Accounting: 1 year (preferred)
- Bookkeeping: 1 year (preferred)
