Position Summary:
South Country Co-op is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Temporary Senior Grocery Clerk to join our team at 13 th Ave Food Store in Medicine Hat, AB. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from you!
Reporting to the Grocery Manager, the Senior Grocery Clerk plays a key role in daily store operations, supporting the Grocery Manager in delivering exceptional customer service, and providing leadership to other grocery clerks. This includes opening and closing the store, ordering and receiving inventory, stocking merchandise, merchandising displays, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service in the grocery department
- Stock shelves, rotate products, and ensure proper product placement
- Provide guidance to other Grocery Clerks
- Assist with opening and closing duties of the store.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Order, receive, and stock grocery merchandise and ensure accurate inventory levels
- Assist with opening and closing duties
- Support the Grocery Manager with daily operations and special tasks as needed
- Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 15 years of age and completed Grade 9
- 1–3 years of previous grocery or retail experience; previous supervisory experience is an asset
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks safely
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and flexibility
- Self-reliant, goal-oriented, and able to learn new skills quickly and to set and adjust priorities and schedules
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt
- Detail-oriented and able to manage time effectively

Work Schedule:
This position requires full availability, including weekdays and Saturdays.
