Overview
We're hiring experienced dozer and excavator operators for our South Division, based in Medicine Hat. This is production earthworks for a contractor that keeps its iron maintained and its crews busy year to year.
Who we are
Weir Construction Ltd. is an Alberta civil and oilfield construction contractor with divisions in Grande Prairie and Medicine Hat. We build lease sites, access roads, pipeline right-of-way and earthworks for energy and municipal clients, and we run our own fleet rather than renting iron by the day. We maintain our equipment to a high standard and we invest in the people who hold themselves to the same one.

Your machine is looked after by our own shop, not whoever the rental yard sends. You'll run consistent work across a real project pipeline rather than chasing day rates job to job, and you'll be on a crew that expects the finish grade to be right the first time.
What you'll be doing
- Operating dozers and excavators on lease construction, road building, stripping and reclamation, trenching and grading
- Working to survey stakes and grade control, and checking your own work
- Daily walk-around inspections, greasing, and reporting defects before they become downtime
- Working safely around ground disturbance, utilities and other crews
- Loading trucks and coordinating with drivers and the site supervisor
- Keeping accurate hours and equipment logs
What we need from you
- Proven experience operating dozers and excavators on civil or oilfield earthworks
- A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Willingness to work outdoors, long days in season, and travel

Assets, worth telling us about:
- Safety tickets: Ground Disturbance II, H2S Alive, CSTS/CSO, Standard First Aid; please list any you hold in your resume
- GPS grade-control experience (Trimble, Topcon or similar)
- A Class 1 or 3 licence
- Experience on additional equipment: graders, packers, loaders, scrapers
None of the assets are required. Seat time and the judgement that comes with it are what we're hiring; the rest we can add.
