Description

Fresh Start Recovery Centre is a not-for-profit organization operating in Alberta since 1992 with two locations. We provide in-patient and out-patient treatment for men and women affected by the disease of addiction. We are opening a new facility in Lethbridge, and we are looking for a Kitchen Manager and Hand/Cook workers.

Fresh Start Recovery Centre - Lethbridge has an opening for a Kitchen Manager and Hand/Cook. The Kitchen employees will be responsible for food preparation, quality and presentation which meets our standards. Maintain a clean safe working environment as per occupational health & safety standards (e.g., WHIMIS labels, food handling and storage, hygiene etc.). Perform kitchen opening and closing duties as required. Report any concerns, incidents, losses or damages to the Kitchen Manager or the Operations Manager.

The Kitchen employees should be mature, knowledgeable, experienced and would benefit from having experience in recovery community.

Qualifications:

Basic computer literacy
Understanding of safety and appropriate PPE
A vulnerable person police check
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Food Safety certification
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Work independently or with others
Strong time management

Additional Skills

Culinary Degree is an asset
Customer service or hospitality experience is an asset
Valid Drivers license
Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills would be an asset
Ability to work with people who have been affected by substance misuse and mental health
Ability to observe and recognize behavioural and health status changes

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 16-40 per week

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • Cooking (preferred)

Language:

  • English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Handler Certification (preferred)
  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)

Shift availability:

  • Night Shift (preferred)
  • Day Shift (preferred)

Work Location: In person
