This Full-time position, under the direction of the Program Manager:
The Empowering Youth through Identity, Belonging, and Culture Project aims to increase empowerment and resiliency of youth and families impacted by intergenerational trauma and/or family violence. The goal of the project is twofold: to provide all youth with the opportunities to empower themselves through culture, identity and belonging while providing individualized Outreach to those youth impacted by family violence.
Key activities include:
- Program Facilitation: Delivering weekly group sessions that incorporate traditional teachings, storytelling, and cultural practices as tools for healing, intervention, and prevention.
- Outreach & Engagement: Connecting with youth, families, and community partners to increase awareness, encourage participation, and provide support beyond the group sessions to meet needs that are not met during group programming, such as referrals to Miywasin Counselling Team, Saamis Employment and Training, Sanare Centre, Medicine Hat Women's Shelter, McMan, Bridges Family Services, and more.
- Capacity Building: Providing mentorship, leadership development, and skill-building opportunities to empower participants in their healing journey.
- Cultural Integration: Engaging Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community leaders to ensure the program remains rooted in Indigenous cultural values and traditions.
- Evaluation & Impact Measurement: Tracking participation, gathering feedback, and assessing outcomes to strengthen program effectiveness and sustainability.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strict time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings.

Our ideal person will have:
- Post-secondary education in a related field (ie. Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Indigenous Studies) and/or minimum two years employment working in a related field or with an Indigenous Organization.
- Must have Standard First Aid – Level C CPR training or be willing to obtain.
- Must have Food Safety Certificate or be willing to obtain.
- Before employment can commence, successful candidate must provide clean criminal record check and clean child intervention check.
- Must provide a clean driver's abstract; own vehicle is an asset.
