Scope
The A la Carte Cook is responsible for the nutritional needs of residents, visitors, and staff by assuring all levels of Government standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe continuous preparation and delivery of meals/snacks in a safe and comfortable environment.
- Ensure nutritional needs are met on a priority based, cost efficient, timely manner.
- Responsible for the mis-en-place for the sandwich and salad bar, taking orders from the residents and preparing dishes to order in a food safe and a professional manner.
- Ensure adequate inventory is always on hand.
- Maintain equipment and working materials required to perform duties.
- Follow work procedures as outlined in daily work schedules which includes dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, cleaning of equipment and properly closing the work station.
- Follow WHMIS standards.
- Follow directions of Manager.
- Job Qualifications
- Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent would be an asset.
- Previous experience in food services would be an asset.
- Food Safe certificate or completion required.
- Leadership ability.
- Red-Seal Preferred.
- Pro Serve license.
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, plan, and organize to meet the demands of the department.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing and fast paced environment.
- Ability to communicate.
- Ability to perform duties on the Physical Demands Analysis.
- Ability to speak, read and write English. Must be able to follow oral and written directions.
- Experience working with the elderly would be an asset.
- Able to do extensive standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, and capable of the requirements of the physical demands document.
- Able to prioritize and organize.
- Able to work shifts and possible weekends.
- First Aide/CPR is an asset.
Pay: $23.63 per hour
