Medicine Hat Minor Softball has two exciting summer employment opportunities for Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Laborers for the upcoming softball season.
These positions may be subject to funding approval through Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible for these positions, youth must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
What we offer:
- $17.00/hour + 4% vacation pay.
- 35 hours per week- flexible work schedule (some evenings and weekends may be required).
- Up to 12 weeks total with anticipated start date of April 30, 2024.
- On the job training & safe work practices.
- Equipment provided
- $50 fuel allowance per pay period
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Pre-season preparation of diamond facilities/fields.
- Weed control/ management.
- Maintenance of grass surfaces including mowing, trimming, hole repair.
- Raking and grooming of non grass diamond surfaces.
- Inspecting facilities and repairing deficiencies.
- Ensure diamond facilities are kept free of garbage and debris.
- Stocking of equipment lock boxes at diamond facilities.
- Upkeep of equipment, backstops, benches, bleachers and fencing.
- Moderate to heavy physical work with prolonged standing, walking on uneven surfaces, stretching, bending, lifting and carrying.
- Exposure to inclement weather conditions while performing duties outdoors.
- Travel required between MHMSA diamond facilities.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 driver's license & reliable transportation.
- Current Standard First Aid/Level C CPR or CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid Certificate
- Clear Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check
- Experience operating a quad is preferred.
- CSA approved steel toed boots are required.
- Must be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Landscaping and grounds maintenance experience is considered an asset.
- Must be available May 9-10 SASS series U11-U17 C/D, May 29- 30 U11 Tournament, June 12-14 High School Tournament, June 19-20 U13/U15 Tournament
