Educational Assistant
for Crescent Heights High School
In accordance with Article 12 of the Agreement between the Board of Trustees and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 829, the following information is posted.
POSITION SUMMARY
Medicine Hat Public School Division is recruiting an Educational Assistant (EA) working in
a 0.67 FTE (20 hours per week) probationary/permanent position
working at Crescent Heights High School.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Skills & Requirements
- Provide flexible in-class and small-group supports to help students access learning.
- Support implementation of individual support and behaviour plans.
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and learning team.
- Support positive behaviour, self-regulation, and inclusive practices.
- Supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc.)
- Experience working with students with diverse needs would be an asset
- Preference will be given to applicants with an understanding of childhood development
- Building strong relationships with students, helping students learn, and seeing the best in every student in an inclusive school setting
- Assisting and supporting students through individual support plans and/or behaviour support plans
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults
- Work as part of a team, take direction and follow student and classroom programs.
- Enthusiastic and motivated to help students succeed
- Ability to work in a flexible learning environment and make adjustments for classroom or individual student needs
Qualifications
- Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience working with students in school setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Education or experience in child and youth care counselling or social work or experience working in child and youth behaviour may be considered an asset.
