We are hiring a part time position! Here is my usual job description, please take the time to read it all before deciding to apply. If you know someone you think would be a good fit send them our way. (This is not a summer position as our training does take around a month!)
I LOVE MY JOB! This is what I was made to do! Would not change it for anything, all the hard is outweighed by the love I have for all the animals in our care (or animals in general). We have lots of fun, we get to have built in therapy of animals, watch them play and comfort them. I can’t explain properly how amazing it is when a dog who has never played finds a friend, or a dog who is scared comes to cuddle you understanding they are safe. These things mean everything to us & can make our entire day.
That being said I want to be very clear:
-This is a very physical job and IT IS HARD WORK!
-You will be on your feet your entire shift most days.
-There is lots of cleaning, it is not just snuggling dogs & cats unfortunately.
-Dogs do have accidents!! Shit (literally) happens & there will be messes you will have to clean up.
-You will be outside regardless of it is +35 or -35 and beyond, so dress appropriately.
-You have to be paying attention to details, whether it is food amounts, medications, socializing. I can not stress the importance of safety enough, and I am extremely strict on that!!
-Our shifts range from 4-8 hours, we are open 7 days a week 6am - 8pm so availability to work days, evenings or weekends. We are open 365 days (office is closed Christmas, but we are still there with the animals) so working weekends and holidays is a must. Once training is done shifts we try to keep your shifts consistent from week to week.
That may sound hard but we provide training until both ourselves and you are comfortable doing any task on your own. We will never leave you in any situation you are uncomfortable with! We have extremely high standards for the animals in our care and will absolutely not settle for less.
