Responsibilities
Supporting the well being of an individual with developmental disabilities by participating in helping the individual achieve their goals, creating natural supports in their community, role modelling, planning recreational & leisure activities, personal care, implementation of programs that help support individual's growth, problem solving, along with promoting life skills such as cooking, cleaning and daily documentation.
Requirements
- Clear Police Clearance (Vulnerable Sector Check and 6 months or newer) is required.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
- Access to and use of a vehicle for all shifts with a minimum of $1,000,000 insurance and with the ability to transport clients is required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound decision-making skills.
- Ability to work well as a team member.
- First Aid and CPR, Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT), crisis intervention training, medication delivery, abuse reporting protocol would be an asset but if the candidate does not have this specific training, it will be provided.
- Previous experience in this field and working with challenging behaviours and mental health (trauma informed care) would be an asset.
- Must have flexibility in their schedule.
