A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Wind Turbine Technician, you’ll be responsible for the routine service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Siemens Gamesa wind turbines. While based at a home wind farm, you’ll also support a mobile team that covers up to three additional sites as needed. Performing blade inspections will be the main focus of the role, including inspection of all blade quadrants and demarking the findings. You will be required to be physically prepared for the job demands including ladder climbing (minimum 267 steps), lifting, bending, working overhead, and operating in adverse weather conditions while working at heights up to 300ft.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbines, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Performing blade inspections, the main part of the time, including the inspection of all blade quadrants and demarking the findings.
  • Maintaining compliance with safety standards, site rules, and environmental protocols.
  • Responding effectively to stressful or hazardous situations, ensuring the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Climbing turbines (up to 300 feet) and working in confined spaces at elevation.
  • Traveling is required to support other sites and contribute to broader operational needs. Overtime will be required in this role.

What You Bring 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or experience in electrical or mechanical systems is preferred. Various combinations of training and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a technical, mechanical, or electrical field, ideally related to wind turbines, SG4X experience considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to work safely in a team setting and meet physical demands, including weight restrictions under 265lbs and passing a job-specific medical exam.
  • Strong skills in planning, problem-solving, and independent decision-making with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical systems, including PLCs and converters; customer-facing experience is an asset. Blade inspection/repair experience is also considered an asset.
  • Must be able to travel up to 100%, domestically and internationally. Valid passport and driver’s license with a clean record are required and must be maintained throughout employment.

About the Team 

The team is responsible for the maintenance and continued safe operation of installed wind turbine assets on behalf of our customers. Safety is the most important aspect of our operations. In this role there is a requirement for travel to other wind farms in Alberta to perform blade inspections as required. There is also a requirement for overtime and on-call duties in the position as required which will be clearly communicated and forecast in advance. Training and development are provided by the company with the aim to develop all employees to have a safe and successful career in the company.
