Kitchen Helper (A&W) Indeed

The Kitchen helper produces works in a fast-paced environment to produce high quality products that exceed our guests’ expectations on every visit. They are willing to learn and embrace change as they implement the innovation of A&W. The Cook cares for their guests first before anything else, delighting them with perfect food with natural ingredients and great taste. The Cook also ensures the safety and cleanliness of the kitchen and contributes to achieving high A&W operating standards for the restaurant.

Your duties:

• Bring clean dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas and set tables
• Carry and replace linen
• Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units
• Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs
• Load bus pans and trays
• Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware
• Place dishes in storage area
• Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas
• Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand
• Scour pots and pans
• Keep records of the quantities of food used
• Package take-out food
• Portion and wrap foods
• Prepare, heat and finish simple food items
• Serve customers at counters or buffet tables
• Stock refrigerators and salad bars
• Take customers' orders
• Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs
• Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
• Handle and store cleaning products
• Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
• Remove kitchen garbage and trash
• Sharpen kitchen knives
• Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
• Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit

Directly Related Work Experience

• At least 1 to 2 years

Equipment and machinery experience

• Deep fryer
• Grill

Working Conditions:

• Working in a fast-paced environment

• Working with hot products and equipment
• Working with cleaning materials and chemicals
• Working in a noisy environment
• Working with sharp objects (knives, slicers, etc.)
• Use of portable or step ladder may be required

Physical Requirements:

• This position requires the employee to stand for an extended period of time (up to 8 hours)
• Occasionally must lift heavy boxes when dealing with product inventory (max 50 lbs.)
• Engaging in repetitive tasks such as preparing/assembling orders and products and regular cleaning of restaurant facility
• Must always be mentally alert to ensure the safety of yourself, co-workers, and guests at all times
• Maintaining good personal hygiene and appropriate uniform
• Having the capacity to handle stressful situations
